A Reminder of The Montessori Approach - 02/04/09
The Montessori philosophy was developed by Dr Maria Montessori in the early 1900s. She was a true pioneer of child-centered education and the first woman to qualify as a medical doctor in Italy. Montessori demonstrated that children learn independently when in a rich, stimulating environment.
Fundamental to the Montessori approach is the belief that a child’s early years – from birth to six – are the period when they have the greatest capacity to learn. The Montessori approach is holistic and develops the whole child. The team at BMC aim to foster independence and a love of learning from an early age.
